First, Lets talk about software. Most graphic artists use Photoshop to create their digital miracles, but there are similar free software applications. GIMP is one of the better free graphic design software applications. It has most of the same tools as Photoshop, and many interesting filters and functions. After you download the software for free, go through the tutorials. This you will learn some of thethe most basic skills and identify your tools and their purposes.
After you have been through the tutorials, try the time to a project. I recommend that all start with a business card. It is small, has a defined content and your confidence with your new software build.
The number one thing to remember with all the graphic design is the color. The color can the success or failure of a graphic design content. If your business is, you use a swimming pool business colors, recalls of pools(eg blue), turquoise and sand colors. If you have a restaurant, you think about the type of cuisine you are serving. Warmer colors, people hungry. Choose yellow, orange and red tones to your cards appealing to the eye and the palette.
After you select some colors, add in the basic text. Now it is time to make a logo. Take your initials, add in your basic colors and an interesting application of filters to the selected text.
Look at the line of the document. Is there anything that isimpede the flow of the document. Graphics are to complement the text, it does not overwhelm.
After you finished your design, you compare your design with professional samples. How does it stack up? You can always have good ideas of things to deal with other graphic design. Do not be afraid to surf the Internet for graphic ideas. You are sure to find something that you can use.
